Question
I am a high school all star cheerleader and coach. I am about to graduate and I am interested in starting my own all star team and opening up a gym. What are some of the qualifications and certifications needed to start your own cheer gym? My heart is set on being in the cheer world for as long as possible. Thank you for your time.

Hi Shelbie!
Well first of all, I would recommend going through college and getting a degree in business. (however, the business degree isn't neccessary.) I'm actually planning on opening my own cheerleading gym in a few years. It does require quite a bit of money to open your own gym, so make sure you get a steady job after college before you open your gym!

I offer advice for conquering competition phobias and anxieties. I also offer tips on perfecting your tumbling, jumping, dancing and stunting abilities.
Experience
I was a optional team gymnast until the age of 14. I have been a cheerleader for most of my life. I can tumble and jump just as good as I could when I was younger. I have been coaching cheerleading and gymnastics for five years. I work for a major cheerleading company that sends me around the US to teach cheerleading camps to children of all ages. During these camps, we teach proper technique for all aspects of cheerleading. I also have worked at many cheerleading competitions also. I am also a cheerleading and gymnastics coach for a gymnastics facility in Florida. I am a safety certified cheerleading and gymnastics instructor.
