Question
Hi Desiree, my 17 year old daughter is a two-time NCA All American and the main varsity flyer on her HS cheerleading squad (cheers football, basketball and competition).  She has good (and improving) tumbling skills such as round-offs, back hand springs, tucks, etc., but other than being a very good flyer, she has really good facials and hand motions I'm told.  How hard is it to get a college cheerleading scholarship and what's the best way to proceed?  Also, what about professional cheerleading (i.e., Atlanta Falcons, etc)?  Thanks!

Answer
Hello,

Cheerleading scholorships are pretty tough to get! Your daughter has a better chance of getting one if she goes to a big highschool. The way of getting a scholorship is to impress. As long as she has confidence while she is cheering and looks good, she has a better chance.  Prefessional cheerleading is a great idea! If she is really into being a cheerleader then I would highly recommend trying out for a professional team of choice.
