Cheerleading - College Flying

Expert: James - 7/6/2007

Question
I'm a sophomore in high school, and I'm a back spot on varsity however i want to cheer in college so i need to start now.
I want to know if you can give me different exercises for partner stunting!
And also the average weight of most college flyers.

Answer
As far as "exercises" unfortunately you would have to ask a female b/c I'm not sure exactly what muscles partner stunting targets for females. I'm sure you could ask some of the flyers on your all girls team for that. Rule # 1 that I tell everyone, male and female, and it is as simple as it gets. Nothing substitutes for actual stunting. Maybe find an all-star gym and see if there are any guys around there that could teach you to stunt etc. At my college girls would just come up to us in the rec if we were stunting and ask us. Also the average weight question is really dependent on coach and team. I've seen some schools where basically every flyer is sub 100lbs. Ive seen others where if the girl is good enough 120-135 is not out of the ordinary. I would just do some research into the school or schools you are thinking of going to.
