Cheerleading/High heel stretches, and high scorpions

Question
I have heard "you don't need to be that flexible" in order to do a heel stretch.  I've been able to do the splits all the way down without any pain or discomfort (for years) but whenever I try to stand and do a heel stretch, my leg rarely comes high enough for me to grab a good hold because there's so much muscle tension from somewhere.   I figure, I must be straining a part of my muscle that I hardly ever stretch when I sit in the splits.  Do you have any tips for achieving a heel stretch and especially a high heelstretch?

Also, I've got a scorpion, but I would really love to have a super high scorpion, so I was wondering if there are any great stretches and advice you can give me for that.  Thanks a bunch!

Answer
For the heelstretch i know where i cheered at we would have a partner and the flyer or the one doing the heelstrech would stand up with there back against the wall. and the other person would lift there leg up.. and that helped me alot cause i had this same problem.. ((does that make since if you need me to explain more i can)) and then for scorpion we did like the same thing but u face the wall..and your partner lifts your left up like a scorpion but with someone else streching it for you.. thats what we did.. i hope this help.. good luck
