Cheerleading/Level 4 stunt

Question
Hi Kimmi. I am an expert in the gymnastics category, and I am a cheering coach. I recently started coaching a level 4 all star squad. We are working on rewind stunts (back flip into sponge position, into show and go and onto a stunt) but in the rules it says no assisted flipping. Does the rewind count as assisted flipping even though its a stunt and not tumbling? Just wanted to make sure we arent doing anything illegal.

Answer
Hi There,
Unfortunately legality questions are so difficult to answer. I have no experience with lv. 4 teams, my team is lv. 3. But, in lv. 3 no assisted back tucks are allowed and we used it in a stunt and got penalized. SO, I might say don't use it, but my best advice to you is to contact the UCA representative for your area www.varsity.com They are the definitive resource for rule interpretation. Just ask if rewind to sponge is allowed in lv. 4. I'm sorry I couldn't help you further but I know that UCA can.
Happy Cheering!
