Cheerleading - New to competions

Expert: Kiki Quach - 11/22/2007

Question
This is my second season of cheerleading - my first competion season.  I'm not exactly scared or nervous, but I'm just worried about all the preperation and most of all, the stunts.  I'm basing and flying this season, when last season I was a flyer only.  What types of things do teams do to prepare for competions so I can be prepared for what I have to do?

Answer
Hey.
The main thing you should be prepared for is doing lots and lots of reps. Your coach will want you to keep working on a stunt until it goes up solid and then want you to do it many times more.

Also, lots and lots of jumps so that you can have good jumps even when you're tired.

You would probably be running a lot to have a lot of endurance and stamina since you're supposed to be going full out on a difficult routine for 3 straight minutes.

Hope this helped.

Love always, Kiki Quach
