Question
I'm in 8th grade and i cheer. when i was in 6th grade a flew, but on that team they never really pointed out my mistakes. now I'm on a new team and for the whole season so far i have been back spotting. then a girl broke her arm and now I'm a flyer. i don't do any thing extreme just preps and show and goes (awesome). i can do them but i have trouble  locking my legs. i feel like i am, but I'm really not. and also i have problems when bumping or retaking. I'm suppose to hold up my own weight but i never do. can u give me tips on how to practice locking my legs and holding myself up when I'm not at practice? like when im home or something

Answer
Hey.

I used to have the same problems as you my freshman year.

For your legs, something you can probably do is base a little or if you're not going to do that, go through the bases process at home to get used to the feeling of locking out your legs. I got better at flying through basing.

For holding yourself up, you can get two chairs that are the same height (taller ones like stools) and lift yourself up into a hanging drill. That helps build the muscle to be able to hold yourself up. Don't forget to lift up your own butt so you keep good form.

I hope this helped!

Love always, Kiki Quach
