Question
Hi, I'm a base working on a single base liberty and I need help changing my grip. We start of with two bases.the flyer jumps in (with a backspot) with two feet and we lift her. the other base lets go and I , the main base, hold her with the backspot. But I cant seem to change my grip fast enough or at all to end up facing the crowd. in that sense, i'm having problems changing my stance also. ANy help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
Hi Lonyae,
Being a base if difficult, but i know you will get the hang of it.  As a full time flyer i know that is not only the bases fault for not completing the stunt.  Now when the you are with two feet switching to the one you should mostlikely have one hand gripping towards the toe and one towards the heel.  Depending on how many counts you get you can  switch your grip before fully completing the swich to a single base lib.  The flyer should have almost all his/her weight already on you so that when the switch is completed you don't have to do as much work.  If the flyer doesn't have most of her weight on you it can make it more difficult for you to lift him/her up.  I know as a flyer when i did single base libs. my base started out with the grip for the sigle base lib. while we still had to bases with both legs. PLEASE KEEP ME UPDATED ON HOW IT IS GOING. GOOD LUCK . .. I HOPE I HELPED . . . IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME!!!

Expertise

I can answer all kinds of questions that are about tumbeling, stunting, flying, cheering, dancing, flexabilty, motions, and just getting back in shape. I can't answer questions about the drill team. I was on an all-star team for 7 years and am currently on my high school team which I have been on for 3 years, and I am currently captain of my high school squad. On my all-star team I was a flyer, a base, and a tumbler. I would be glad to help you, so you may give me some of your questions and I would be glad to give you as much information as I can.
