Question
hey,
i am thinking of starting a squad for me and other girls but the thing is choosing captains i mean if i got the team to vote it would be a popularity contest and the coach said the team should vote so i have responsability in this so if you no any alternate methods pls let me know

Answer
Hey. I completely understand why you wouldn't want the team to vote.

An idea of how you should do it is let the team vote. -Remember to tell them that they should vote on who they really believe would be a good captain. Not just who they think is popular.
-That their vote will not be what completely determines the captain, but they will have a little say in it as the coach's decision is what the main result.
-Make sure also to keep the voting anonymous. Make little slips with all the applicants names on it.
-Also, for the coach, make the applicants for captains turn in a form of who they are, their experience, why they should be captain, and other info the coach may need to make a good decision.
-The coach can choose how much the teams votes will actually take effect on who the coach chooses.
-Another small bit of idea is to interview the applicants to actually talk to them about things. For the coaches.
-And for the squad, the applicant should make a small speech about what they've done and why they think they would make a good captain.

This way, everyone has a say and if the coach doesn't choose, it wouldn't be a popularity contest and if the team doesn't choose, they won't be absolutely left out and angered about the choice.

I hope this helped!
