Cheerleading/cheer gym

Question
I am a cheerleader in highschool and I plan on going and cheering in college. My dream is to eventually own my own cheerleading gym/allstar team. I was just wondering how I would go about planning and starting a gym. Obviously it would be after college and i would need another job besides coaching to get some start up money. I just need to know if there are any classes i need to take in college and just the basics to going about starting the gym.

Answer
Hi Chelsea,
Well, if you want to study things in college to help you on this path, then the best thing to do would be choosing a major in kinseology, becoming a physical therapist, personal trainer, etc. Anything that deals with the body and how it works. It would also be smart to minor in business so you can run it. Or the other way around, major in business, and minor in something with the body. OR double major. Anyway, those are the good combos for what to study in college.
Aside from the college part, alot of the gym stuff is common sense, and alot is trial and error that you'll learn from experience. The best thing in that respect is to talk to other gym owners and take from their experience. But, we're all still learning. My team is owned by me, so I've learned how to run the business, but I have yet to own a gym building, so when that happens for me, I'll have a brand new aspect to learn. Essentially, never close your mind to anyone's advice. Always take what you can get. Hope this helps you out.
Happy Cheering!
