About Nicole Expertise I can answer all kinds of cheerleading questions. Either it be cheers, motions, chants, tumbling, stunting, try-out advice or just asking for advice, I can answer it all. I cheered since 1st grade all the way until my senior year at high school. In high school we had boys and girls on our squad so I am familiar with all types of cheerleading. I now have completed college and have my own squad. I hope you come to me for all of your cheerleading questions.
Experience Ihave a lot of experience. I have cheered for 12 years.
My seven year old daughter is working on backhandsprings for cheerleading. She's been working on them for some time now. Her biggest problem is not keeping her arms tight - she bends her arms and end up with her face close to the floor. (This is from a standing position). When she runs and does a round-off backhandspring, the bent arms don't happen as often/aren't quite so bad. Any tips or suggestions? (She is DETERMINED to get this right). Thanks so much!

Answer Hi Lisa,
I am glad that your daughter can do a back handspring. I could not even do a back handspring at seven.
Anyway, the problem is that your daughter is used to doing another tumbling skill before her back handspring. I suggest you practice with her on just her back handspring. And, until she perfects that don't let her do the round-off back handspring. Let me know how it goes and GOOD LUCK!!!!!
