Question
I was a cheerleader for about three years, but last year was my first year of competitive cheer. Unfortunately I was forced to move a couple months back and I had to quit the squad. I was unable to join my new school's Junior Varsity squad so my only option was to wait for the following year try-outs. Try-outs are getting closer and closer and I am now "rusty". My jumps aren't as high as before, I am not as flexible, I haven't flown in about 5 months, and I have lost the muscle I once had. Overall I'm completely out of shape and afraid that I wont make this squad since I will be trying out for varsity(juniors and seniors can't try-out for J.V.) I really need your help to get back in shape. What can I do?

Answer
Being out of cheer for awhile is very difficult. . . There are many ways you can help youself get back into shape.  For flexibility you should try doing your splits when you are watching t.v., try doing wall splits, or gravity splits.  To get back in shape try doing hollow body holds to help your abs. Also try backbends (back exersices), and arm stretches.
