Cheerleading/tryout tips

Question
Hi. I am going to try out for varsity cheerleading. I have tried out before, and didn't make it. I was wondering what is most important to concentrate on this time around? Any other tips as well? I hope to hear from you soon.

Answer
Unfortunately that is very difficult to answer as a blanket statement. The answer would differ depending on the level of the squad (using the term "varsity" im assuming its high school or collegiate), if its an all-girl squad or coed,  and also from coach to coach. I was cut once from a squad and I asked the coach what she was looking for and the next time around I made it. It might be best for you to politely contact the coach and ask the requirements etc.  However having not made a squad and tried out again the best tip I can give you is this. Make sure to highlight your improvements. Make a list of what you know you have improved on since you last tried out and make sure to show that off during tryouts. That way the coach can see the difference between what she cut and what is trying out now.
