Cheerleading/twist downs

Question
Our twist downs look like a spinning pencil.  Please help!!

Answer
Hi Mindy,

Have your flyer practice twist downs on a large squishy mat (like a big bertha if you have one) or a trampoline. It sounds like your flyer is not leaning back into the twist. She needs to get use to landing it the same as a regular cradle, but with the twist first. Make sure she is riding the toss up and then initiating the twist with her shoulders. Assuming your group is twisting to the left, your flyer should be dropping her left shoulder, and her left hand should be by her right back pocket, and right hand should be by her left front pocket. Her ankles should never be crossed. After the twist she should open up again to catch the bases in the baby, taco, whatever to call it position. Hope this helps you out! Good Luck!
Happy Cheering!
