Question Dear Mike,
I need help in deciding my major.. I'm generally interested in nanotechnology and cloning and i want to do research in both fields once i'm a graduate. I was initially going to major in biological (not to be confused with biomedical ) engineering and my university has a pretty good rank in it too. However, I recently read on the internet that its really hard for an undergrad bioengineer to find a job.. is this true? My university also is good at chemical engineering too.. i was wondering if i should stick to biological engineering or go for chemical engineering with a biological engineering concentration.
Answer If your career goal is research, you really should consider an advanced degree in what you'd like to study. Your undergraduate should be in that same field. Graduate school will allow you to focus more on your desired technical area and give you some useful experience that will help you get a job in the future.
I can answer general questions related to all aspects of chemical engineering and material science, and specific questions related to electrochemistry, batteries, and ceramic materials.
Experience
I have over eight years experience in the battery industry, covering Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, Li-ion, Li-ion polymer and Li primary chemistries. I have over four years experience in the field of ceramics processing.
