Question
Dear Boyter,
Could you please explain me the meaning of 1+1 HNO3?
I have just a little bit knowledge on Chemistry.
"1+1 B1HNO3" is found when I was reading the paragraph for preparing standard metal(Pb) solution:" Dissolve 0.1598g lead nitrate, in a minium amount of 1+1 HNO3, add 10 mL conc HNO3, and dilute to 1000 mL with water; 1.00mL=100ug Pb".

Answer
1+1 normally means one part water and one part concentrated acid or other reagent.  This is to distinguish it from 50% which is not the same thing since the concentrated acid is not pure acid (concentrated nitric is 70% acid).  So 1+1 is about 35%.  Remember add acid to water, not the other way.

I am not sure what the B1HNO3 means.  If the book describes B1 as a different concentration of HNO3, you need to use that.
