How much would you recommend I use?  Should I depend on the dishwasher to rinse it off well, or should I hand rinse?

Question -
I ran out of dishwashing soap, but I have all this bleach.  If I put a small amount of bleach in the dishwasher, you can tell me the amount, is that safe to eat off of the plates?

Answer -
Yes. As long as its rinsed off well.

Answer -
I really would not use any bleach in the dishwasher. It may invalidate the warranty.  It may not harm the metal inside, but why take the chance.  How far are you from a market to purchase some dishwasher detergent?  I am sure that the unit will rinse off the plates, etc. just fine.

Answer
Look, it is up to you.  In the course of this discussion, you probably could have purchased dishwasher detergent.  It is up to you to decide if it OK to put bleach into the dishwasher.

I am a chemist not a dishwasher expert.  You initial question was, Can I eat off the plates that had bleach on them from the dishwasher?  I advised you yes; provided they are rinsed well.  (well being either manually by you or by your machine)
