Chemicals/Water + ?? = Heat

Question
Hi,

I'm a fellow AllExperts Expert, so if you need help with a computer issue, feel free to look me up! I'm not in school or anything like that, but I'm searching for a safe chemical that, when mixed with water, generates heat. It doesn't have to steam, but that'd be cool if it did.

I'm trying to find something that I can mix with water and hold in my bare hand, that will be warm. It doesn't have to be blistering hot, just warmer than room temperature would be perfect. Do you know of anything that could be used in this situation?

Thanks!

Cheers,

Chris Schuh

Answer
There is really no such chemical because of your restriction of "safe" used in the context of "absolutely no harm no matter what even for children".  Think about it this way, if it reacts with liquid water, it will react with water in the air.  If you can get off "safe", there are some household things that can be used.
