The reason I'm asking this is because I want to know what the white powder was that my teacher used. The teahcer had some wooden splints and this white powder, she put the splint in water and stuck it in the powder and it reacted pretty violently. Making a small explosion and some smoke. So what is this mysterious white powder?
Answer -
Could be several things.  Ask your teacher.

That's the point she won't tell us.

Answer
If they didn't tell you, they had a reason.  I imagine, the main being safety, which is the same reason I'm not going to tell you (some schools have rules against giving this information).  I have to respect their decision.  Besides, it could be 20 or 30 things and I would be guessing in the dark.
