Hi, well they say there is no such thing as a stupid question so here goes...
How come when you drop mentos (the candy) into a 2 liter bottle of pepsi, the pepsi shoots up about 5 feet in the air??

A couple of things you could try.  

1. Do a life-saver for comparison

2. Try a little table salt and/or a little sand (the silica mentioned in the link).

No matter what, do it outside.
