Question
Hello,
I didn't really know who to address my question to, so if it's completely out of your field of study I apologize. The other day while I was applying some orange lotion on my skin I realized that my skin does not retain the colour, so does this mean it is absorbed? Could this be dangerous? Or what really happens? I do have some basic knowledge in science, if that helps.

I appreciate your time,
Thank-you,
Elizabeth Woyce

Answer
If you mean orange in color, what happens is this (most likely).  It is only orange when you have a thick layer because it has little actual orange in it.  When you spread it on, you create a very, very thin layer that is almost transparent and the color of your skin shows through and is dominant.  Try spreading it on a brown or black sheet of paper very thinly and see what you see.
