Chemicals/copper

Question
Hello:
My shower is staining blue-green, and I think it's my new copper pipes.  The system has been flushed.  My well water has a pH of 6.7.  Is this low enough to cause this significant of corrosion?
Thank you.
Dylan.

Answer
Dylan,
Yes your pH is too low. What you probably need is a water neutralizer. This will raise your water pH to >7.0 to a max of 8.5.  Also, you will probably need a water softner since the resins (calcite) also harden the water.  The green, blue stains you see are copper salts. These are coming from your copper pipe.

A conditioner from a company called Master Water Conditioning is avaiable.  Call your plumber or look in the phone book.
