Chemistry (including Biochemistry)/alcohol

hi,
maybe this is completely irrelevant to your field, if so I apologize, but the other day I was looking at a bottle of beer that said 6.1 % alc./vol, which I know is the percentage of alcohol in it. My question is, hard liquors. such as vodka, that usually have about 40%, generally go diluted for that same reason, either with juice or soda , etc. , so after making a drink with 1 ounce vodka and filling up with juice, (considering the glass is full of ice) , what would the percentage of alcohol go down to?

I ask this out of scientific curiosity, not as a drinker or something.

If you start with 40% and mix with an equal amount of juice, you will have 20% (1 shot in 2 total).  If you do one shot of liquor and three of juice, you will have 10% (1 shot in 4 total, so 1/4 of 40%).  Note that if you just add ice, it will still be 40%, but the percentage will drop as the ice melts to water and dilutes the liquor.
