Question
sir,
ammonia forms complex cations like Cu(NH3)4SO4 or cupriammine sulphate
the tendency of NH3 to form such complexes arises from the presence of alone pair of electrons.i didnt understand which lone pair and how a lone pair of electrons

Answer
Ammonia is NH3.  N has five valence electrons, so if three interact with the three electrons of the H's.  This leave two electrons in a lone pair.  It is this lone pair of nitrogen that interacts with the metal.
