Question
What is an aqueous solution?  Please explain in layman's terms.

Does an aqueous solution have a pH of 7 since it's mostly water?

Thanks for your help.

Answer
Something dissolved in water where water is the major component.

No very few aquaous solutions will have a pH of 7.  What you dissolves determines the pH.  Think of it this way.  A food dish with just a little hot pepper will still be hot because the pepper is much stronger.  The same is true with water.  It is very weak when related to pH.
