Chemistry (including Biochemistry)/plant growth affected by detergents

Question
Does the plant(when using detergents) grow more or just die right away?

My teacher told us to ask an expert about our science fair project idea.

Answer
Depends on how much you add.  Small amounts will have no effect, large enough levels will kill the plants.  Different plants will have different tolerences.

Please tell your teacher that students should include class, grade level, teacher name, and teacher e-mail when they ask you to ask an "expert".
