Question
Hello

I am teaching my daughter chess who is about 1000. She is 8 and quite
bright. She can use some help from openings books but the only book I ever
looked at over 25 years ago was MCO.

I am quite out of touch with chess at this point so I would love some advice
on nice openings and endgame books, which are easy read and offer a lot of
explanation.

Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Charu,

MCO is still being printed with a new edition recently released (!).

However, the times have changed and here's the two opening books I highly recommend.  They not only give different variations, but most importantly - the ideas and explanations of typical strategies, including how to handle the middlegame positions that arise.
