Question
Hi:
Here is a question: Two young fellows are playing. White moves his queen so that it checks the black king. White does not notice the check, nor does the Black player. They continue to play. Two moves later, White realizes that a check has been there for a couple of moves. How do you handle this? Do you go back to when the check originated? Or do you just accept the check as of the current position? Or, what. Please advise. Thank you.

Answer
This happens frequently in chess especially in time scrambles.
To complicate matters spectators want to jump in and voice their concerns to correct the move but they cannot.
You have to accept the current position as it is and keep playing.

I hope this helps!
