Mike,

Rather, than giving you the answer, the best thing I can tell you is to keep trying to solve it yourself.  I've solved hundreds of chess problems and some have left me befuddled.
When I had an especially tough one, I would write down the possible variations.

Sometimes I would spend hours on one problem.  Only after giving up would I look at my notes to see how many of the variations were close to the answer.
This idea will help your ability  to calculate.
