Chess - Queen moves

Expert: Louis Lima - 8/10/2009

Question
My daughter seems to think a queen can move like a knight as in l shape and jump . that is not true right

Answer
Hello Don,

You are correct. The only piece that can jump over other pieces is the knight.

I made four mini-videos on YouTube regarding the basic rules of chess. If you would like to review them you can visit my YouTube page at http://www.youtube.com/user/chesslearning

Warmly,
Louis
