Question
How to win chess in the least amount of moves? I played my Grandfather
groing up, and he could always win in about 4 moves no matter what I
did. I could never figure it out, and it's been years since I've played. If you
could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very
much.

Answer
Hi Fletcher,

The four move checkmate goes like this:

1. e4 e5
2. Bc4 Nc6
3. Qh5 Nf6
4. Q:f7 mate

It can be prevented by playing 3. g6 or if White plays 3.Qf3 then Nf6 will prevent it.

Depending on your opening as Black, White can try to play the Queen and Bishop combination to deliver checkmate, but it can be easily prevented by usually playing one of these moves.

If you want to stop it no matter what, then play 1...e6 (French Defense) as your answer to 1.e4.
