Question
How did Bobby Fischer study chess openings?

Answer
Hi Edward,

From what I know, Bobby Fischer studied chess openings the way we all had to in the pre-computer age: using chess books, magazines, and periodicals.

It involved a lot more work than nowadays and sometimes you'd use two chess sets and had to play the moves on both sets. Then when you came to variation, you'd use the second set to view it.

I don't know what specific items he used as he didn't like to divulge too much information about himself.

Regards,

Len
