Question
when moving your bishops to take the opponents rooks in the corners of their second rank I always seem to fall to the queen soon after but it seemed like a good move. Why did it backfire?

Answer
Sounds to me you are very new to chess.

I suggest you read Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess.
It is a very good book on basic chess tactics.
Read the entire book and let me know if you are still having the same problems.

I don't think you will.

I hope this helps!
