Question
I'm learning chess and using the chess game that comes with windows 7.
I'm white and the game ends in the following.

Black king H8
White Bishop f7
white Queen g6
white bishop h6

Is this checkmate or draw ?
Game says draw.
Thank you
Ron

Answer
Hi Ron,

Thanks for your question.

The position you gave me is a draw.

A player automatically draws a game if BOTH of the following conditions are met:

1.  The player has NO legal moves, and
2.  The player is NOT in check.

Both of those conditions are met in the position that you gave me, so the game is indeed a draw.

Enjoy your chess!
