Question
Dear Chuck

1 Is it possible to checkmate with one Bishop and one Knight?
2 If yes, checkmate is possible with Bishop check?
3 If yes, checkmate is possible with Knight check?

Thanks
Prashant

Answer
Hi Prashant.

White can force a checkmate with only a king, bishop and a knight.  It is a very long and difficult process though.  Against the best defense, it takes over 30 moves to accomplish.  The final check can be with either the bishop or the knight, depending on the situation.

Enjoy your chess!
