Question
My son is 7yys old and is expressing a great interest in chess.  I have been searching, but I am having a problem locating a club in our area.  We live in New Orleans, LA, can you help me locate a club for children?

Answer
Hello,

New Orleans is a hotbed for chess. It'll take more than Katrina to put a halt to our game. There are players who have been displaced, but I'm sure chess will rebound. Just like in my state of Ohio, chess thrives in schools. Call around and ask. Also, Florida and Texas have great tournaments, camps etc.
The best way to find local chess clubs is to go to the United States Chess Federation website at uschess.org and their state chess website. Ohio and our surrounding state have their own sites.  Not only will you find clubs, but local tournaments and other fun stuff for kids.

I hope this helps.
