What is the absolute strongest chess program that can be purchased from a store, or downloaded online for windows XP?

Downloading it is usually illegal. The best software that I recommend is the Chessmaster program series. This is I think the best for a PC like those at home. You can buy  other programs, yet I like the Chessmaster series for learning too.

I must say if you do not let it think for the recommended time, you will not play the hardest level. Good luck and sorry but if you don't have a supercomputer Chessmaster I still say is the way to go.


"Extreme Chess" is a great program, yet the look of Chessmasters series makes it better. Plus it teaches you better and I think it is better overall. There are sites online that rate programs. But some of those are for supercomputers. Also some people who are rated 2000 cannot beat certain programs while they can beat even better programs. Programs have weak sides.
