Question
I need to know where to go to get tactical problems from real games that are more then four moves deep
I also need good 2200+ resources for the caro khan and the kings gambit

Answer
Dear Chris,

1. Imagination in Chess: How to Think Creatively and Avoid Foolish Mistakes by Paata Gaprindashvili - The reason I recommend this book is that the problems are really hard. I checked the reviews and that was one common observation, that the problems are so difficult sometimes that they take the fun away. However, for someone at your level probably would be idea.

2. Encyclopedia of Chess middlegames (Informant 1980) Section two - It has about 800 problems that are fairly difficult. I am still working on them, most of them are 4+ moves and all from real tournament games.

3. Anthology of Chess Combinations (Informant 2005) edition also has the problem you are looking for. The difference between this and the 1980 is the classification. The 1980 is strictly divided by tactical motifs, while the 2005 has various classifications. The 1980 edition is difficult to find, but the 2005 is easy an it has more problems for you to solve.

Test Your Chess IQ Book 2, (Part B) has about 350 problems that look fairly complex. I am still working on the intermediate section, but by browsing through the answer section most look over four moves.

My rating is only 1753, so I am very hesitant to recommend opening books at that level. I would ask this question to other experts on the site.

Warmly,
Louis
