Question
if your king is in check, is it possible to switch spaces with the pawn once in the game to get out of check?

Answer
There are only three legal ways to get out of check:
    1.  Move the King to a square that is not being attacked.
    2.  Capture the piece that is giving check.
    3.  Move a piece between the King and the piece that is giving check.

If the King can't get out of check by any of the above means, then he is checkmated.

So, no, you are not allowed to get out of check by switching spaces with another piece or pawn.

I hope I was of help.  Enjoy your chess, aisha!
