About Jim Holsbeck
Expertise
I can answer most questions on Chevrolet vehicles up to 1996, or before the ODBII.

Experience
I have been working on cars since I was eight, when I started handing my dad wrenches. I did my first complete rebuild at 14, and my first restoration at 16. When it comes to Chevy, if I don't know the answer off the top of my head, I can find it out fairly quickly. (My entire family is a bunch of gear heads.)

Education/Credentials
4 year machinist degree, with a 2 year mechanical drafting.

Question
Miss firing no power only goes to 20 km/h chokes up, stalls new wires, new plugs, new coil? dont know what to replace next. Or should it just be scrapped?

Answer
Kim,
I wouldn't scrap it just yet. What you can do is pull the codes stored in the computer and let me know what comes up. To do this, take a paper clip and sraighten it out and bend the wire into a U shape. Then locate the ODBI port under the driver's side dash... should be a black rectangle that has a bunch of holes in it. Take the paperclip, with the key in the off position, and insert it into the top two right hand holes to "jump" these two terminals. Then get a piece of paper and a pen and get ready to write down the codes. Turn the key to the ON position... DO NOT start the car. The check engine/service engine soon light will flash. it will initially flash 12... One long flash, two short flashes... Then it will start flashing the codes. They will all be two digit codes, with the first number being long flashes and the second number of the code being short flashes. At the end of the stored code list, it will either flash 12 again or repeat the codes. Write down what codes there are, and I'll let you know what they mean and where to start. When you are done, turn the key off and pull the paper clip. I'll be able to give you a much better answer with these codes, and when it is fixed, I'll let you know how to reset them.
