About Jim Holsbeck Expertise I can answer most questions on Chevrolet vehicles up to 1996, or before the ODBII.
Experience I have been working on cars since I was eight, when I started handing my dad wrenches. I did my first complete rebuild at 14, and my first restoration at 16. When it comes to Chevy, if I don't know the answer off the top of my head, I can find it out fairly quickly. (My entire family is a bunch of gear heads.)

Question 1996 CORVETTE COUPE WITH LT-1 AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH 33,000 MILES STARTED LEAVING SMALL AMOUNTS OF TRANS FLUID ON GARAGE FLOOR ABOUT 600 - 1000 MILES AGO NOW LEAVING LARGE AMOUNTS (4+ OZ) AT A TIME. IS IT REAR SEAL? IS IT PUMP BODY DUE TO PUMP BUSHING WALKING OUT OF VALVE BODY? HOW MUCH TO REPAIR?
Answer Bill,
Without seeing whether the fluid is coming from the front or the rear of the tranny, it's hard to tell, but the most common leak in those is the rear seal. Take a look under the car and see if it is wet with fluid from the front of the tranny back, or the back of the tranny to the rear of the car. That will give you a good indication. You can also look under it at the puddle and tell if it is leaking from the front or the rear. If it is the rear seal, it shouldn't be too outrageously expensive to fix, but if it is the pump, you probably will have to pull the tranny and that can get spendy. Good Luck!
