I know you're an expert on 1955 to 1975 Chevy's but maybe you'll have an idea on this one.  

I have a 2001 Chevy Impala.  We just had the Intake Manifold replaced because it was leaking coolant.  We also had the sensor replaced.  The car still smells like it's overheating, the Temperature Gauge inside the car won't work, and the Check Engine Light is still on.  The fan runs constantly as well.  

I took it back and we looked over the car.  There is no coolant leaking but it still smells and it's been 2 weeks since the repair.

I'm worried to drive it in fear that I'll ruin something else and we don't have another $159 just to run ANOTHER diagnostic.  Please help!!

         Well as far as it smelling, some times when you have a car over heat the smell can last a long time if it was not cleand off right but as far as it overheating ,   it is not smokeing  or  no  coolent  loss, and the temp. gauge is out right , i would see about getting the temp gauge working so you will know if it is hot or not this way it can save you a lot of money in repairs.But as far as the overheating if it is all ok and not overheating and it just smells it should get better in time or you could have the  engine cleaned. and as far as the check engine light if it was checked and nothing is / was wrong than the light should have been re-set. or it could go out by itself , and by any chance is the gas cap off or not on right , at times that alone will make the check engine light stay on if the cap was not put back on right-it has a sensor on it too OK
