Question

What is the possible problem with a car that when you step on the gas ~ it hesitates and absolutely has NO power?  It will eventually get going and decide to accelerate, but it's not cool going 20mph until then.  Specifically does this requires new plugs & wires?  Or is this a problem with the fuel injector? What will this generally cost?

Thanks!

Answer
Could be fuel or spark.

Change the fuel filter $10. (Should be changed every spring)

Then change the plugs if that doesn't help $25 (Should be changed every 20,000 miles or 15,000 miles for sports cars)

Then change the plug wires $65 (Should be changed every 50,000 miles)

Then change the ignition coil(s) $50-$150 (Should be changed every 75,000 miles)

Start from the top and see what works.
