Question
Hello,
I have a 91 Chevy Cavalier, and took off a bad alternator. is there a serpentine belt tensioner? If there is, where is it? I can't find anything! Please Help! Tahnks!

Answer
Hi Bill, Yes there is a tensioner. It is directly above the crank pulley. On the front there is the alternator, below that is the water pump, on the back is the power steering pump, the lowest one down is the crank pulley. Above that is the tensioner. It may be seized, as this is common for a cavalier. To change the tensioner you have to remove the power steering pump and the alternator in order to remove the tensioner. the bracket that holds the power steering pump and the alternator has the tensioner built into it.I hope this helps you. thanks, Keith.
