Chevrolet/94 cavalier tachometre installation

Question
Hey Roger! I have a 2.2L Chevy Cavalier that i just got as my first car. It never came with a tach tho. So my Uncle and I installed one, but it only gives off half the rpm that it should. It's a dual coil, and we understand why it would do this, since there's two wires going to the ignition controls. But we only used one. Now, our only option is to connect the two wires to the tach wire. Is this safe? Or can it interfere with anything?

Hi, first off,why did you only get a  1/2 the  rpm s tach? , did it not come with instructions on how to set it up for your car. if not I would try to hook up the second wire if it is just like the other wire to the coil or if there  is a second coil hook up , but do it with one person watching the tach. and the other person just touching the wire to the  spot of the second wire hook up this way  it will not hurt anything you can just remove it. on some there is a switch or a second set up or  you could join the wires , so do so with caution , do not twist them or hook them up till they are all working right.ok

All i can remember growing up is working on cars and making them loud and fast , and when i started to make money i would sink all of it into my cars so i could get them to go faster and look great. what else is there !I would love a challange to trouble shoot, as it is fun finding what is wrong when all others can not .ON the older cars not past 1975s , etc. so please I will try to help with the newer cars but do not grade me bad if I can not help your 2006 car.etc.
