I have a '97 lumina and the automatic trunk latch isn't working.  When i try to pop the trunk either from the inside button or with the remote, i hear clicking like it's working, but it doesn't open.

Inspect the latch for rust or gummy components and clean with WD40. Open the trunk with a key and hit the button on the remote. Examine the latch to verify that the solenoid is popping and see what is causing the problem. Sometimes the springs rust or break.
