Question
Okay, I found that my gauge fuse was blown BUT, when a new one was replaced it will blow again. I recently installed a new cd player and my idea is that I mixed something up. But the CD player works perfectly. But all my electrical ideas have been exhausted. But to assist me further, I know numerous things could be tied in to one fuse. So what all is tied in with the gauge fuse? Maybe that could shed some light or give some direction as to what could be shorting out that circuit. Thanks for your assistance.

Question -
I have a 1985 Chevy Caprice and my instrument cluster just stopped giving a proper readout. I have four things on the cluster; Temperature, Speedometer, Fuel ad Fuel Economy. Now I know fuel economy and the speedometer work on vaccums, so they work properly. But the other two are way off. The needles for Temp and Fuel point to 1:00 and 9:00 respectively. And also when I get ready to start my car and I turn my key, none of the dash lights come on; i.e service engine soon and oil. And lastly to top it off, when I turn my headlights while I'm driving, I get that irritating sound you hear when the lights are left on and the car is off. So any and all help will be appreciated in this matter. With the little knowledge I have, I'm thinking something just went wrong electrically, but where is the question. Thanking you in advance.

Jacob;
  Hi- I wonder was the car looked at or worked on prior to this going wrong ? i wonder if you have a short someplace. A bad sending unit could also do some weird things. I would first have a meter pluged into the computer to see what codes it puts out ,and that might tell you the trouble.
and look for any loose wires,etc.  ok

Answer
 Jacob;
  Hi-  well I would look for the other  things that are hooked into the same fuse  , and for the gauge if it is blowing fuses , and if you have added something to the same fuse than that is causing the fuses to blow, if not than the gauge might be burnt out now from what ever was hooked up to it. is the cd player hooked into the same fuse , try to disconnect it and see if the  gauge will work   .   ok
