Hi There.

We recently purchased a used 1999 Chev Cavalier.  Everything in great condition, except for the fuel gauge.  We fill the tank and on the fuel gauge it only shows a level of 3/4 full.  I asked some friends and they suggested that it might be the gauge that is dirty in the fuel tank, and that we could put some injector liquid to clean it out.  Do you know if Cavaliers are known for having fuel gauge problems?  And what would you suspect is the problem?

 i'am not up on newer cars ,but as far as your condition it could be a lot of things due to the computor, as it could be the gauge, also it could be the float in the tank itself, or it could be a sending unit, and on and on, as all i could say is you would have to have a computor hooked up to the plug for trouble shooting and it will be found  by the teck. if he is good, as this could be costly if the tank has to come out but it might be some real easy item, see a chevy dealer and ask what they get to hook you up to the computor for a look see only, as if it is going to cost a lot you might wish to just let it be as it is. i only wish i could help you more but with out a computor now a days its helpless or real costly by trial and error. good luck
