Question
I have a 1990 Chevy 1500 pickup truck.  It has a 4.1 liter engine with 68,000 miles. It is usually driven short distances. It uses a quart of oil about every 70 or 80 miles.  The engine doesn't leak and has never had any work done on it. I have always changed the engine oil and filter every 3000 miles and also change the air filter regularly.
Thanks for you help.

Answer
Hi Larry, there are only a couple reasond that could make it burn that much oil. The first thing you should have checked is the valve stem seals, if it is that it wont cost that much. The other thing is worn or broken oil rings on the pistons, this is an expensive job and requires engine overhaul or replacement. Good luck, I hope this helps you, if you need more info just let me know. Regards, Keith.
