Hi,

I have a chevy cavaliere 99, when it is warm out or the car is warm, it runs fine, however, when i start it up in the cold and try to go, i let it run a little first, it doesnt accelerate, it takes about 3 times the rpms to get the car moving, as if the transmission is slipping, there arent any noises coming from anywhere.  everything sounds normal.  when the car gets warm, it moves fine, it is just when it is cold.

HI Erik,
        Well if the car runs fine when it is nice out ,but when it is cold it takes time till it warmes up. I would have to say that the first thing that I would do is to make shure that the choke is working as it might be sticking on you, as this could be the trouble, as far as the tranny if it was bad it would happen all the time and only get worse when it gets hot. when you start the  car in cold weather do you let it warm up first  or do you just start it and go that is  a no-no in my book as all of the fluids and oils must get warmed up to opperating temp. to work properly. if you are just starting the car and taking off I would say let it sit for a few mins. prior to take off, and if you do let it sit and it is still doing what it does check the choke as it might need a adj. but there can also be a lot of other things wrong but I would just let the car sit for a few mins. when you start it up.
